2019 is done. All the events of yesteryear have been locked away in a vault.
New year, a new decade and all that good jazz.
Optimism is high around this time of the year. New year resolutions being acted upon. Everybody beautifully trying to achieve more, growing into a better version of themselves. Learning how to deal and eradicate those whispers of doubt, which crept in previously.
How do you control optimism? I’ve learnt to not control it. What happens, happens.
I decided to work backwards, so that I can survive and enjoy everything coming in front of me.
Accepting accountability for my past errors and areas of improvement has helped. That has come in various forms, throughout a prolonged period of time. Dealing with period of past frustrations and laying them to rest, accepting that the events are simple an event that occurred in the past and nothing more. Past failures, frustrations, injustices are not a measurement of my power. Learning to accept that some moments of the day are a write off, is difficult to accept for a controller. Relinquishing control for accountability, accepting responsibility for my actions, ensuring that all things are done to please and better myself, and not for the benefit or acceptance of others (work, friends, partner, family).
A lot of energy is wasted based on the actions and emotions of others, most if not all, being unworthy of our attention.
I wasted a lot of that energy.
How do you control your energy? By remembering it’s yours and not for others to drain, away from you.
Embracing and accepting your energy, the way you decide to display it daily is a personal choice. It removes the excuses that we give ourselves daily, leading to the way we treat others daily. You’ll never see an accountable angry and mean person. The very same way oil and water don’t mix. Be wary of the energy you see in the mirror. Understand that like your energy, nothing that you desire is linear.
Make a conscious decision to become accountable for your energy and actions. Placing focus on others is wasteful, it’s rooted in useless excuses. Accept that like energy, life is fluid and not linear. Learn to ask yourself the correct questions, for the answers to them are within.
To everyone reading, happy new year.
Don’t forget to smile, it’ll lift your mood. Praise and love being you.
Note to self:
To know where you’re going. You have to know where you came from. Keep working on yourself, keep learning and understanding what happened yesterday, so your tomorrows can be more peaceful. Small steps are better than no steps forward.

A predictable misery is where the ego calls home because it knows what to expect.”
