New Year Energy

2019 is done. All the events of yesteryear have been locked away in a vault.

New year, a new decade and all that good jazz.

Optimism is high around this time of the year. New year resolutions being acted upon. Everybody beautifully trying to achieve more, growing into a better version of themselves. Learning how to deal and eradicate those whispers of doubt, which crept in previously.

How do you control optimism? I’ve learnt to not control it. What happens, happens.

I decided to work backwards, so that I can survive and enjoy everything coming in front of me.

Accepting accountability for my past errors and areas of improvement has helped. That has come in various forms, throughout a prolonged period of time. Dealing with period of past frustrations and laying them to rest, accepting that the events are simple an event that occurred in the past and nothing more. Past failures, frustrations, injustices are not a measurement of my power. Learning to accept that some moments of the day are a write off, is difficult to accept for a controller. Relinquishing control for accountability, accepting responsibility for my actions, ensuring that all things are done to please and better myself, and not for the benefit or acceptance of others (work, friends, partner, family).

A lot of energy is wasted based on the actions and emotions of others, most if not all, being unworthy of our attention.

I wasted a lot of that energy.

How do you control your energy? By remembering it’s yours and not for others to drain, away from you.

Embracing and accepting your energy, the way you decide to display it daily is a personal choice. It removes the excuses that we give ourselves daily, leading to the way we treat others daily. You’ll never see an accountable angry and mean person. The very same way oil and water don’t mix. Be wary of the energy you see in the mirror. Understand that like your energy, nothing that you desire is linear.

Make a conscious decision to become accountable for your energy and actions. Placing focus on others is wasteful, it’s rooted in useless excuses. Accept that like energy, life is fluid and not linear. Learn to ask yourself the correct questions, for the answers to them are within.

To everyone reading, happy new year.

Don’t forget to smile, it’ll lift your mood. Praise and love being you.

Note to self:

To know where you’re going. You have to know where you came from. Keep working on yourself, keep learning and understanding what happened yesterday, so your tomorrows can be more peaceful. Small steps are better than no steps forward.

“The ego’s main purpose is to keep us repeating familiar cycles, even if those cycles are miserable.

A predictable misery is where the ego calls home because it knows what to expect.”

Mantra

As part of my reflective period, the majority of the posts uploaded will be more in the frame of my previous blog post. On which I discussed the possibilities and the importance of using visualisation in our lives. And how acknowledging and accepting your thoughts can help the development of your thought process.

What is a mantra? What is it’s origins?

According to the dictionary, a mantra is;

“a word, phrase or sound that is repeated again and again, especially during prayer or meditation.”

Regarding the origin, I have had a look in the Etymology Dictionary.

According to the Etymology Dictionary, it’s roots are from;

“Sanskrit mantras “sacred message or text, charm, spell, counsel, “literally” instrument of thought.”

It is originating from Hinduism and Buddhism. After looking at the definition and the origins of the word, it’s itself. A mantra is/can be a word or a series of lyrics repeated over and over again.

Awareness of our thoughts

First thing first, we must be aware of our thoughts. What type of ideas usually guide our days.

Being able to identify what pushes your buttons, takes awareness, patience and practise. Be patient while you practise your awareness.

An example of awareness is being to catch yourself when you begin to use negative self-talk.

So remember, a mantra is originally a thought itself.

An idea that you can physically project through your actions.

Plan your thoughts as you do with your day. If you currently don’t have a daily structure in place, create one.

Practising a mantra

Now think of your day as a destination. What direction do you wish to take? Do you want a peaceful day? A day filled with joy? Or maybe a day of reflection?

Now that you’ve decided your destination think of the best possible route.

As mentioned in my previous post, this is when your brain goes into overdrive and comes up with multiple routes to one destination.

The beauty of having a mantra, you’ll notice things slowly being drawn into your aura. Your mantra, like your thoughts, can be altered throughout the day, week, month or kept the same for the rest of your days. Be patient with yourself; accept that you’ll struggle throughout your journey. Be kind to yourself.

Note to self:

Having one awkward moment in the day doesn’t mean you’ve had a bad day.

Small steps. Great distances.

Imagination

Over the next couple of posts, I’ll be focusing on the little things that we can do, to better our mental health.

And today I’ll be talking about, the brain talking about the brain’s capacity of creating scenarios based on little or no information.

The Brain, The Creator.

Whenever I fail to achieve a particular target, just before those thoughts of self-doubt start flooding to the front of my mind. I have found that it is more beneficial for myself to stop and pause simply.

Stop and pause, to pay more attention to my surroundings. Acknowledging and accepting the thoughts flooding through my brain. Just taking in my surroundings and understanding that nothing that I’m looking at, once existed, until someone failed several times before the perfect image was created in their mind.

It’s common to hear of sportswomen and men, talk about visualising the event way before the time for action comes around. And you, me, everyone can learn how to positively enhance our quality of thought.

Our brains are always creating. The never-ending safeguarding process is being run quietly in the background. With its number one aim, to protect and preserve, you. Whether you may be in physical or emotional danger, the brain will create many different scenarios quickly in your head. With each scenario resulting in a different ending, either being survival or loss.

The practice of positive visualisation can help overcome fears, anxieties, nerves and also decrease levels of excitement that may hinder and put you in dangerous situations.

Practise Your fears | Overcome Your fears.

As they say, practice makes perfect. Practice visualising yourself going through daily tasks, overcoming your fears, achieving that moment of success.

Use the many simulations that we create daily, to go through potential setbacks. Use those pictures. Prepare for the best and prepare yourself to bounce back.

This technique of positive visualisation can be used and taken into other aspects of our lives. So next time you find yourself going through some difficulty or even when you’ve achieved a moment of success in life, take your time and visualise the moments ahead.

Visualise yourself overcoming doubt, confusion, fear, the level of negativity that also comes with achievement.

See yourself growing through the next phases of your life.

Note to self:

Nothing new under the sun and nothing old under the moon.

Patient Progress

As most of you have been aware, I have been incognito.

The break has been a blessing of some sort. Removing the demand and focus away from posting was refreshing. A step away, has allowed me to take re-evaluate my personal and work life.

As you can see, my blog site has a different look to it. Been given a full and necessary make-over. The new look includes a poetry section, where i will predominately be posting content of my very own among some personal favourites of mine.

2019, has been a testing year to say the least. Learnt a lot about resilience, patience and perseverance this year. Learned even more about the people that I have chosen to surrounded myself with.

Naturally, I would consider myself to be an optimistic person. That optimism was put to the test several times this year. Failure was something that I slowly became accustomed too. Meditating was and is some that has been integral to my mental transformation in the second half of this year. I would strongly recommend to anyone, I compare it to pressing F5 on the laptop.

Mediating, helped me notice how much I disliked working at my previous place of employment. Everyday was a literal struggle to wake up. I had no motivation whilst being physically in the office. It became a means of ensuring that the bills were paid.

Thankfully after a truly placing all my efforts to leaving, I handed in my notice to my manager. A manager, who arrogantly told me that I wouldn’t get the managerial role that I applied for elsewhere.

Tomorrow will be the start of my fourth week.

New job, new working environment, new role. It has brought a spring back into my step.

A personal touch of my now manager, calling and offering me the role gave more confidence to end the job search and hand in my notice. A touch personal touch that isn’t really felt in the working office anymore, which could be considered ironic as I’m sure everyone has worked for companies whom claim to pioneers of mental health in the workplace.

After leaving, I made a promise to myself that I’ll never live to work anymore & I wouldn’t accept employees feeling de-moralised as they step foot into the workplace.

I would like to think that when the year comes to a close in 30 days, I can look back and say to myself that I have progressed. That I’ve become a more rounded person, a better person for my future.

Note to self:

Energy is contagious. Don’t be spilling your energy, telling everyone of your plans and thoughts openly. You can’t save everyone, you can’t help everyone. It’s not your job.

Protect your energy. Protect your aims and goals. Be wary of what & whom is actually beneficial to your growth. Pay attention to your surroundings and your everyday environment, your thoughts and actions are shaped by these. Trust and be honest to yourself.

Rearrange what needs to be moved. Your energy is everything. Your aura is expensive.

Keep your held high, nothing but peace and more progression coming your way.

Be proud of the second half of the year. You’ve won.

Monday

Monday’s, probably the most cursed out day of the calendar week. Poor Monday.

Maybe, Monday’s are not your favourite day of the week. I don’t think people dislike the day itself, I think any negative emotion towards the day itself, is due to their own personal situations which are usually work related. Working in a environment which is sometimes draining after a positive, fun, getaway weekend from the horrors of work. One thing for sure, is that Monday’s offer us something that the other days in the week isn’t able to do. A fresh clean slate.

Monday gives us the opportunity to forgot and erase past errors from our memory bank. Needless to say we’re all striving towards a specific goal, of which some of are more aware than others. It’s completely understandable if you’re currently sorting all the clothes in the closet, neatly folding away all the questions that life has to offer in the right place.

Doubts will come up throughout the journey. Life will strategically place hurdles in certain points of your life. Some of these hurdles you’ll clean with ease, whilst the other attempts leave you with a few bumps and bruises. The issue is as human beings, we have an undying knack of placing our errors ahead of our accomplishments. Forgetting about the hurdles once cleared.

At the end of this day, when it’s all said and done. You’ve returned back home after your daily duties, display some manners and don’t forget to thank yourself for the efforts of the day, for the moments you decided not to lower yourself as held your tongue, when a colleague or boss spoke to you in certain way. Take the time this evening to thank yourself for overcoming the first hurdle of the week.

You’re unique, your uniqueness is not to be undervalued nor understated. There isn’t another you running around on this world. A limited edition, one time rolling movie. Start believing in your worth, increase your value daily. Your ambitions, goals, aims, everything you wish for are chasing you, they want to become a memorable part of your movie. They want to walk on the red carpet with you.

Start your movie today. Lights, camera, action.
